How Phase Financial Makes Client Gifting a Set-It-and-Forget-It Experience

Industry: Financial Services
Company: Phase Financial
Use Case: Client onboarding, client gifting, employee appreciation

For Phase Financial, strong client relationships are at the heart of their business.

So when the team decided to roll out welcome kits for new clients, they wanted the gift boxes to feel personal, polished, and consistent with the professional experience they provide.

But as a small team, they simply didn’t have the bandwidth to manage another operational process.

COO Kate Flynn chose Swag.com to handle the inventory, fulfillment, and logistics behind every shipment. This helped her team turn an idea they’d been discussing for months into a client welcome experience that runs in the background of their daily workflow.

“We don’t have to manage it at all. It’s a ‘set it and forget it’ type service,” Kate says.

With Swag.com, Phase Financial stores inventory offsite and sends individual boxes as needed. Instead of managing fulfillment internally, they simply place an order and welcome each new client with a gift after they sign up for services.

Putting the Brand Into the Experience

For Phase Financial, the gifting experience starts before customers open their welcome box.

The team opted for custom packaging that features their logo across three sides of the gift box, with branded products and custom crinkle paper inside. A personalized note greets the client and thanks them for trusting Phase Financial with their financial planning.

“We wanted our clients to know exactly who was sending this box the minute they saw it,” Kate says.

The physical gift adds another touchpoint to the onboarding process—one designed to make the relationship commencement feel more personal.

A Welcome Gift Designed for Everyday Use

The gift box combines premium products Kate says she knew clients would actually use, including:

  • Two branded YETI tumblers
  • A sleeve of branded golf balls
  • A personalized welcome note

The products were chosen with everyday utility in mind. Phase Financial had already seen how much employees appreciated their branded YETI tumblers, making them a natural choice for clients.

The golf balls added another useful, broadly appealing item—many clients play golf, while others have passed the gift along to family or friends.

Because the goal was for the products to become part of clients’ everyday lives, Kate wanted to send items that would hold up over time.

“With the contents being everyday-use items, they have to be durable,” she says.

The Result: A High-Touch Experience With Low Operational Effort

Today, Phase Financial sends roughly two welcome boxes per week, or about 30 per quarter.

The response from clients has been immediate and specific. Clients have told the team they love the gifts and have even sent photos of their YETI tumblers already in use at home.

Just as important, the team doesn’t have to manage the fulfillment process behind those moments. For Kate, that’s the real value of the program: it makes thoughtful client gifting possible without adding operational complexity.

“It’s a great way to reinforce our gratitude for clients trusting us while letting them know that we value them,” Kate says.

What’s Next: Extending Appreciation to Employees and Beyond

Phase Financial sees the client welcome box as the beginning of a broader gifting strategy.

The team is also setting up an employee store where employees can choose their own branded gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, and other milestones.

Rather than giving everyone the same item, employees will be able to select something that fits their style and needs—turning appreciation into an experience of its own.

The goal is consistent across both audiences: make people feel valued while keeping the process simple for the team behind it.
