Below, we’ll dive into some of our favorite methods for adding logos to create branded water bottles, along with some best practices to help you create gorgeous gifts to wow employees and nurture customer relationships.
How we add your logo
There are a few different methods for printing logos on water bottles. The techniques available to you depend on your partner company’s personal preferences, the material of the bottle, and the type of water bottle you want to brand.

For example, the Swag.com team uses three different types of prints for custom water bottles:
- Screen printing
- Digital printing
- Laser engraving
Screen printing
Screen printing is one of the oldest ways to put logos on water bottles. To create the design, ink is passed through a custom-made mesh screen, with separate layers created for each color. Each layer is applied one at a time to complete the logo and create a vibrant and crisp design.
Screen print tends to be one of the most cost-effective methods for applying logos to water bottles, but there are some cons. For example, only one color can be used per screen. If multiple colors are needed on a logo, several screens will need to be used. Regardless, it remains one of the most popular methods for creating branded water bottles.
Digital printing
For full-color logos, it doesn’t get much better than digital printing. This is a process where a digital printer applies a logo to water bottles using the 4- Color Process, or 4CP, which is composed of four colors: cyan, magenta, yellow, and black (CMYK for short). This process is similar to the printing process used by most inkjet printers.
If you’re planning to digitally print your logo, the Swag.com team limits digital prints to 8 colors. Still, we think you’ll be impressed by the versatility of digital printing.
Laser engraving
Laser engraving is an amazing way to produce an elegant-looking logo on a water bottle, but it only works on metal water bottles. The color of the engraving is also limited to the color of the material.
With laser engraving, a permanent design is produced by removing some of the water bottle’s top layers and creating the logo’s shape. Due to the nature of the process, a water bottle that has been laser engraved will stand the test of time.
Best practices for design
Creating the perfect branded water bottle as an amazing corporate gift requires a little preparation in advance—but these tips help make it simple!
Stick to brand colors—but make sure they work
Creating a water bottle using your brand colors is crucial. When customers or employees receive their new water bottle, they should know by looking at the color scheme that it’s your branding.
Find a color scheme that works best for your brand between the bottle’s color and the logo you plan to use. However, be aware of which colors might not show up well. For example, using the same shade of blue on the logo and the bottle itself likely won’t yield great results.
Figuring out which colors within your brand can combine together is the best way to produce an amazing branded water bottle.
Pick the right logo placement
Keep this in mind when choosing your logo: you won’t want to go with a logo that is too large for your chosen bottle. Otherwise, the logo may stand out in the wrong way. We typically like to place the logo in the center of the bottle from the cap and bottom.
It’s also worth noting that you can put multiple logos on your bottle. This can look great with a smaller logo and show your branding on multiple sides. Some bottles also allow you to put a small logo on the cap!
Choose your materials wisely
We love glass water bottles. However, it might not be the best material for an outdoor trade show with multiple giveaways. Glass bottles are a better choice as part of an employee welcome kit or a client gift. Figuring out which material will best fit your needs is part of the process of designing a great gift.
Depending on the materials you choose, you’ll face different options with how your logo is applied to the bottle. For example, with Swag.com, you’ll notice on every product page that there is a section towards the bottom with your logo options.
Before settling on a water bottle, consult this section of the page to ensure you’re able to select the printing method that will work best for you!
